Jerry Frawley | Head Coach
Frawley begins his second season in 2022 as head coach for Cornell’s men’s and women’s cross country programs, following two seasons as an assistant.
Since Frawley's arrival in Fall 2019, Cornell's cross country teams have produced 21 individual all-Midwest Conference performers and two individual Midwest Conference champions. In 2022, the men’s team captured the MWC championship, after finishing as runner-up in 2021 by a tight margin of four points. This was their third conference title in five seasons. Aaron Davidson won back-to-back individual MWC titles in 2021-2022. He was the first men’s individual MWC champion since 1990. The 2022 season saw eight total all-MWC performances between the men’s and women’s teams. The men’s team set a new program record of seven all-conference athletes in one season. Davidson would go on to earn his second straight all-Midwest Region honors with a 30th place finish in 2022 and sits No. 2 on Cornell’s all-time list in the 8000m with a time of 24:49.
Frawley, a native of Monticello, Iowa, has been an assistant coach for Cornell's track & field teams since August 2019, working with the distance runners. Frawley has produced 13 MWC champions and 24 all-Midwest Conference performances in the distance events. During the 2022 indoor season, Frawley’s men swept the MWC distance event titles, winning the 800m, mile, 3000m, 5000m and distance medley relay crowns. Under Frawley’s guidance, Davidson was voted MWC Track Performer of the Year in 2021 (outdoor) and 2022 (indoor). Frawley also coached Isaak Hutchings, who was the MWC Most Outstanding Newcomer for the 2022 outdoor season. Frawley’s distance runners were a key part of the men’s indoor distance medley relay who set the school record in 2022.
Frawley, an all-American distance runner at Wartburg College (2013-17), enjoyed success as a cross country and track & field graduate assistant (2017-19) at NAIA’s Grand View University, helping the Vikings set 14 school records on the track in only two seasons. Frawley coached six track & field all-Americans in 2019.
Grand View’s 2018 women’s cross country team established two top-10 all-time performances in program history. The men’s track & field program won Heart of America Athletic Conference outdoor team championships in 2018 and 2019.
While competing at Wartburg, Frawley was a two-time NCAA qualifier in cross country. The Knights placed 21st at nationals Frawley’s senior season.
On the track, Frawley gained all-America honors in the indoor distance medley relay (fourth place in 2016). He was a two-time Iowa Conference champion in the distance medley and also earned all-conference accolades in the mile and 3000m steeplechase. Frawley was part of four IIAC track & field team championships during his time in Waverly.
Frawley received a bachelor’s degree in fitness management with minors in business and leadership from Wartburg in 2017. He earned a master’s in sport management from Grand View in 2019.
An accomplished runner at Monticello High School, Frawley helped guide the Panthers to three Iowa state team championships (cross country – 2011, 2012; track & field – 2013). He placed in the top 10 at the state cross country meet his senior season. Frawley won a state track championship in the 4x800 relay and took runner-up in the 1600 and 3200 races.
Haley Harms | Assistant Coach
Harms begins her second season in 2022 as assistant coach for Cornell’s men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs.
Harms, a 2019 graduate of Wartburg College, was a four year member of the cross country and track & field programs. She was a member of two women’s cross country national qualifying teams in 2018 and 2019. On the track, she specialized in the 3000m steeplechase and contributed to two American Rivers Conference outdoor team championships for the Knights, in 2017 and 2019.
Harms graduated with her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Graphic Design, with minors in Marketing, Spanish, and Environmental Studies.
Harms grew up in Albert Lea, Minnesota where she graduated from Albert Lea senior high school in 2015. She was a part of the women’s cross country conference championship team in 2013.
Alejandro Sanchez | Assistant Coach
Sanchez begins his first season in 2022 as an assistant coach for the Ram’s men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs
Sanchez, a 2017 graduate of South Dakota State University, was a standout middle distance runner for the Jackrabbits. He holds the school record in the indoor 600m and is on the top-10 all-time list in the indoor and outdoor 800m with a PR of 1:49.30, indoor and outdoor 4x400m and the indoor distance medley relay. Sanchez was 4x Summit League Champion in track & field and was a 2x qualifier for the NCAA Division I West Regional in the 800m. Sanchez also suited up in cross country for the Jackrabbits.
Sanchez, originally from Plano, Texas started his collegiate career at Waldorf University. After spending a year in Forest City, Iowa, Sanchez transferred to Southwest Minnesota State before finding his eventual home at South Dakota State.
